Community and Connection

During the winter months, especially in January, we can sometimes feel disconnected from our community. On the one hand, the hibernating time encourages us to be in a yin state —where introspection, reflection, and personal growth take precedence. However, knowing that the community is there for you, no matter how far away and staying connected is crucial to avoid isolation and negative thoughts.

In the past, communities were small, local, and close-knit where friends, comrades, and allies were always close by. The modern community, thanks to the wonders of the web, WhatsApp, and many other communication modes, spans the globe. Connecting with them through groups, meetings and events is what keeps the mycelium network of relationships alive.

I believe that events, festivals, retreats, parties, and face-to-face meetings are more important than ever to maintain communities.Human connection is, and always will be, the fundamental foundation of feeling connected to others, a key factor in human happiness. The significant positive impact of people spending time together is evident, whether it's deepening old friendships with adventure, connecting with new people, or sharing an inspiration in life, work, and play — all occurrences are necessary make community and connection thrive.

At Wonderment, our intention is always to build a community with united values of respect for others, to celebrate diversity and inclusion, inspire creativity and play and a encourage joy. We recognise that we are all on a healing journey and show up for each other when it is needed – offering help without unrealistic expectations. Understanding that we can't always see each other physically but remain connected in our hearts, souls, and minds.

We understand that many people are going through a very difficult time lately as we continue our quest to make sense of the world, the universe, and our place within it. Therefore, we want to ensure that everyone knows they are loved, supported, and seen and that if anyone has specific worries, they can always reach out. We can match you with one of our amazing Wonderment contributors who is an expert in that area of healing and counselling.
